What a huge weekend it was at the Melbourne Convention Centre for Battle Arena Melbourne 9! The CouchWarriors team is incredibly proud of the event and pleased to see so many people had a great time. With over 800 competitors and overall attendance over 1,800, it was an awesome event. From the community buzz and smiling faces at the afterparty, it looks like everyone had a great time, which is the number one thing for us.

This year, BAM9 will be host to some of the most prolific and renowned pop culture and video game artists in all of Australia.
Local artists can join two very special guests who will be joining us for a weekend of Fighting Game goodness. Jeffrey “Chamba” Cruz and Kode “Bosslogic” Abdo will join the Couchwarriors family for BAM weekend selling prints and other goodies.

We are pleased to announce the return of special guest Jeffrey “Chamba” Cruz to Battle Arena Melbourne in 2017!
The artist for Udon Comics’ Street Fighter 2 Turbo, Super Street Fighter & Street Fighter V : Life and Death(s) of Charlie Nash, he will be appearing both Saturday 13th 11am-5pm, and Sunday 14th May, 11am-3pm.
Chamba, who was a popular guest at BAM 2014 and 2016, will be available to draw commissions of your favourite characters, sign prints and hang with fellow gaming fans!

Two mighty World Champions of Street Fighter have been confirmed. Both Daigo and Infiltration will be at #BAM9! Will you be there?
Daigo Umehara also known as The Beast is a multiple title fighting game champion. He won two consecutive EVO World Championships in Street Fighter IV, and famed for this video, EVO Moment 37.
Introducing the Tekken 7 : New Challengers Tournament
The perfect opportunity for new players to experience and explore one of the greatest upcoming fighting game experiences.
Classic 1 vs 1 battles return along with new moves and battle mechanics like Rage Arts, Rage Drives and Power Crushes that make gameplay more accessible for players of all skill levels.
The new challengers tournament will be free to enter and there are plenty of prizes to be won.

Not only is BAM Australia’s biggest fighting game event, it’s a gaming and esports festival, so we would like to invite everyone to appear in character!

Photography: On the floor of BAM9, we will have a special photo wall and photographer onsite, so there’ll be great shots to come from the event.
Cosplay Changerooms: There will be a dedicated space off-floor for Cosplayers to change.
Capcom has revealed details about the 2017 Capcom Pro Tour structure, confirming Battle Arena Melbourne 9 as a Global Premier Event!
UPDATE: The international champions are coming! Already confirmed are Daigo, Inflitration and Xian.
Unlike last year, winners of Premier events are not guaranteed entry into the year-ending Capcom Cup, but are awarded a large amount of points towards their place on the CPT Global Leaderboards – 400 points, in fact: as many as getting to the Top 4 at Evolution!
BAM is the one of the largest annual fighting game tournaments in the southern hemisphere, and BAM9 will be our biggest year yet. Be sure to book your ticket now!
(Pre-registration is $50 venue entry, pre-registration closes two weeks before the event and on the day entry will be $60. Registration for Smash WiiU and Melee is pre-registration only. All other on-the-day registration for games must be done one hour before the game’s first pool starts.)
If you wish to join the event as a spectator, you are more than welcome! It’s only $20 for the entire weekend to take in the event.

Each of the last few years has been a record breaker, with over 800 players and spectators enjoying BAM8 last year, we have much more in store in 2017.
