CouchWarriors Ranbats return this February!

Just a reminder that we will stick to this format for the entire year:

3rd Saturday of the month: Melee + Traditionals Fighters Ranbat (e.g. SFV, MKX, GGXrd, DOA5, KOFXIV)

4th Saturday of the month: Smash 4 + Rivals of Aether

Here are the details for this month’s ranbats.

In the event that we have enough setups (NOTE: Rivals of Aether will not run if there are not enough sign ups)

10:30am – Doubles signups close
11am – Singles Sign ups Close
11am – Doubles bracket begins
2pm – Singles Pools (Top 32 Will start 30 minutes after pools are done)
2:30pm – Rivals of Aether Bracket begins (Sign up at Venue before start time)

Schedule: In the event that we don’t have setups for RoA

As hosts of Australia’s largest fighting game event, and one of the biggest community gaming events in the country, CouchWarriors is proud to make this first announcement.

Each of the last few years has been a record breaker, with over 800 players and spectators enjoying BAM8 last year, we have much more in store in 2017.

Venue: Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Hosted in two bays of Melbourne’s famous convention centre, with more space than ever. A major gaming and esports festival for the Fighting Game Community. More BIG announcements to come.

Hyper Magazine – esports special on sale now featuring Australian Fighting Game scene

Hyper Magazine, the longest running independent gaming magazine in Australia, has released its quarterly special, with the theme of esports.

CouchWarriors 2017 Ranbats are back!

CouchWarriors ranbats are back in 2017! The traditional fighters + Melee ranbat will be on the 21st of JanuaryAnd we have the Smash 4 + Rivals of Aether July Ranbat on the 28th of January. Come for a day of tournament excitement and casuals – place well in the ranbat season and win medals and prizes at the end of the year!

Be sure to check which weekend coincides with the games that you play:

Virtual Reality Fighting Game tournament at December ranbat!

Hi guys, courtesy of the developers over at Virtual Reality Fighting Game, we will have both rooms at CQ booked out (so the full BAM8 space) and we will be running two 16 man single elimination tournaments for their VR game at 11AM and 4PM respectively.

There will be a $100 cash prize for winning, so check them out at the December ranbat!

Southern Cross Championship 2016: December 2-4 Adelaide

Hi guys, the fourth iteration of South Australia’s fighting game major Southern Cross Championship (#SXC2016) happens on December 2-4, occupying two floors of The University of Adelaide.
 
They will be featuring some incredible prize support from their sponsors including:

CouchWarriors FINAL 2016 Ranbat- December 10 at CQ Hotel!

CouchWarriors is capping off 2016 with a huge event – just like last year we’re hosting our final ranbat at the CQ hotel right in the Melbourne CBD for a one day fighting game extravaganza.

Ring in the holiday season with some fighting game cheer- and we have many special surprises in store for you!

The top 3 placers in our 2016 ranking battle points for Smash 4, Melee and SFV will be competing for a $250 prize bonus – with the highest point placer for each game receiving a medal and a special prize (TBA).

The December Ranbat will bring extra weight- placing in December will earn you double points! (Usually 10 for 1st, 8 for 2nd and 6 for 3rd) The top two current places for Smash 4 and SFV are currently separated by three points, so do your best at the remaining two ranbats in November and December!

Bring Your Own Controller

There is a BYOC / Sticks policy for the event. We have some available for emergency and our friendly players will often loan a controller, but we ask you to please bring your own! Also, while we have enough equipment to run the tournaments, everyone will appreciate anybody who can bring setups for casuals and DIYs.

CQ Functions is on Queen St, a short walk up from Melbourne Central train Station, or Flinders St Station.
